Belt Aeromagnetic Grid 2186
The Belt Aeromagnetic Grid is the Guild's flagship open dataset: three years of drone and beacon magnetometry over 1,840 asteroids between 2.1 and 2.8 AU, compiled by Rukmini Sato's team and released each year.
Every body was flown by Pickaxe Survey Drones at line spacings of 50 to 200 metres, with Swarm Prospecting Beacons on the larger targets recording the base-station field. The grids are levelled, corrected for spin and published as total-field magnetic anomaly maps. A classifier ranks each body by iron-nickel likelihood, and a curated list flags 612 bodies worth a platinum-group follow-up.
Prospectors use it to decide where to send a Valkyrie Survey Corvette before spending fuel, and researchers use it to study how metallic asteroids are distributed. The 2186 edition is released under CC-BY-SA-4.0, so derived maps must be shared under the same terms. Grids are served as cloud-optimised GeoTIFFs; the processing scripts live in the repository alongside the MagFuse Inversion Engine.
The 2187 survey season is already under way, and next year's edition will add another 400 bodies in the outer Belt. Corrections and new flight lines from members are merged after quality checks by the Survey Division.
