Apprentice Prospector Intake Day

Meetup Hosted by HSW Tharsis Camp Training Yard

Every year the Guild takes on about forty apprentice prospectors, and this intake day welcomes the new cohort to the Tharsis camp. Prospective applicants for next year are welcome too.

Apprentice Master Wiremu Tane explains the two-year programme: a year rotating through rover crews, drill pads and the assay lab, then a year attached to a working claim. Rover Crew Chief Kofi Mensah-Hart runs a short driving session in a Lodeseeker Prospector Rover and shows how to take a first reading with the Spectra Assay Lance.

Free to attend. Families of apprentices are welcome.

Applications for next year's intake open on the same day. Apprentices are paid from day one, housed at the Tharsis camp, and graduate with Guild membership and a full set of field tools. No previous mining experience is needed, but applicants must pass a medical and a basic suit qualification.
