Europa Subsurface Assay Institute
The Europa Subsurface Assay Institute was founded in 2178 to study what lies beneath Europa's ice shell. It combines academic research on the moon's brines with commercial assay services for prospectors and fuel buyers working across the Jovian moons.
The Institute owns nine Cryo Ice-Core Samplers and two packs of Swarm Prospecting Beacons, a fleet worth about 31.7 million credits. It holds a research claim over the Conamara Brine Lenses, where pockets 400 to 850 metres down hold 210 g/t lithium, 35 g/t rubidium and traces of helium-3. Cores are kept frozen from drill to laboratory and analysed in the Institute's cold rooms on Europa.
Cryo-Sampling Specialist Ylva Strand works alongside Institute scientists for most of the year, and the two organisations jointly publish the Jovian Volatiles Census under an open database licence. The Institute relies on the guild's Nimbus Gas Skimmers and on Wren Microlifters to move cores and crews between Europa, Ganymede and Callisto.
