Olympus Ring Alloyworks
Olympus Ring Alloyworks was founded in 2169 to supply speciality alloys to the shipyards in Mars orbit. It now produces high-temperature superalloys, neodymium magnet blanks and scandium-aluminium sheet for hull builders, and it buys a large share of its feedstock from Ferrovane prospectors on Phobos.
Quality control is the Alloyworks' obsession. Its receiving dock is staffed by inspectors carrying forty Spectra Assay Lances, an 8.8 million credit investment, who check every crate of ore and concentrate with laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy before it is accepted. Two Sieve Ore-Sorting Rigs, together worth 19.6 million credits, reject low-grade material at the gate so the furnaces only see rock worth melting.
The Alloyworks is the main buyer of neodymium and praseodymium from the Stickney Rim field, which grades 1,850 g/t neodymium. Shipments are lifted from Phobos by Wren Microlifter and transferred to the Ring in small batches. Senior Geophysicist Teodor Vasquez-Lin briefs the Alloyworks purchasing team each quarter on new targets, and Chief Assayer Imani Oduya audits their LIBS calibration once a year.
