AssayKit LIBS Toolkit
AssayKit is the software behind every grade the Spectra Assay Lance shows on its screen. It takes a raw laser-induced breakdown spectrum, fits the emission peaks, corrects for matrix effects and returns element concentrations in grams per tonne.
The same code runs in the lance firmware and as a desktop application, so a prospector can reprocess a day's shots back at camp with a different calibration. It ships with a library of calibration standards covering platinum-group metals, rare earths, scandium and vanadium in iron-nickel, silicate and ice matrices, contributed by Imani Oduya's assay laboratory.
AssayKit is released under Apache-2.0 and developed in the open at Rheasilvia Toolworks. Pull requests are welcome, especially new calibration sets; contributions are reviewed by the assay lab before they reach production firmware.
Version 5, released in 2187, added depth profiling so the lance can report how grade changes through the top 5 centimetres of a sample, and a mode for ice cores from the Jovian moons. The desktop application also exports results straight into the Phobos LIBS Assay Atlas format, so field readings become open data without retyping.
