Sunniva Okafor

Seismic Survey Lead Survey Division

Sunniva Okafor leads seismic exploration for the guild, splitting her time between Ganymede and the Tharsis camp on Mars. She operates the Thumper Seismic Mapper, a 14-metre system that pounds the ground with a heavy hammer plate and listens for echoes from up to 6,000 metres below.

Okafor directed the 1,600 square kilometre Tharsis Seismic Volume campaign and the shallower Galileo Regio survey on Ganymede, which outlined rare-earth layers grading 1,200 g/t neodymium. She is known for squeezing extra resolution out of noisy, icy ground and for training crews to lay geophone lines faster than anyone else in the guild. Okafor sits on the guild safety committee and pushes for longer rest rotations on outer-moon crews.
